After a year of being in business, we’ve finally got a website going!
There were a lot of options to have a website made and managed, but for right now, we’re just going to go ahead and do it ourselves. With any luck, we’ll be able to keep this up without you needing to worry about your email getting all cluttered.
Some updates are quite overdue, so let’s get into it.
The back room still isn’t finished, and it’s been incredibly frustrating. It feels like every time we make some progress on it, we uncover another layer of problems that we can’t fix on our own. Fortunately, we have a different property manager, and things finally seem to be moving forward as far as repairs to the building. It’s an old building, and it’s been neglected for far too long. Things are finally moving forward though! And that’s the important part(I hope!)
We’ve been filling the store with more of the things that keep the community going. Right now, our main goal is to keep the staples in stock before we introduce a whole lot of new stuff. There have been some roadblocks, but what is the world without a little bit of challenge? The main obstacle keeping us from keeping certain products in stock is our distributors. I don’t think I’ve seen an invoice from our two main distributors that didn’t have something zeroed out in recent history. Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul has really suffered due to this. Many of the products we’re not being sent are the Chicken Soup products. There was one order where we got less than half of the Chicken Soup items we ordered! So we are doing our best, but there’s only so much we can do when our distributors don’t send what we ordered.
Gabe has been looking into new hay brokers because even though our current one is reliable, the last couple loads of alfalfa looked like straw. Even though we’ve gotten some good leads, most brokers are currently stretched thin by their current load. We’re hoping to get at least one other supplier in the spring time.
Chicks are going to start coming in this first week of February! I learned quite a bit from last year, and with any stroke of luck, we’ll be able to keep chicks in stock until the end of the season in September. This week, we’ll be getting in Black Australorps, Black Laced Gold Wyandottes, Buff Orpingtons, Rhode Island Reds, and Barred Plymouth Rock chicks, and all of them female. We’ll keep you up to date with the shipments as they’ve been scheduled.
We do have an adoption event planned in conjunction with The House of Muddy Paws. Their available pets are already up on the THoMP page on this site, so go check them out! We’re hosting Tater Jo’s to provide food. Muddy Paws will be setting up a doggie kissing booth, and Beloved will be running a little photo shoot just in time for Valentine’s Day!
The calendar is also set up and we’ll be putting the days we’re doing events, the days we’ll be closed or closing early, and any sort of clinics we’re hosting there. We’ll have more details available as we figure out how to run a website effectively. Y’all have been so patient with us as we build the store, and I can’t express how much I appreciate that.
Let us know if there are any questions! Welcome, and I hope you enjoy the website!
